Lion

One morning in 2020 I woke up to a tangible sense of the nearness of Jesus. It felt like a Lion was laying on me. And every anxiety and fear that would usually wake me couldn’t dare come as close as He was.

I wish I lived every day like I’ve been claimed by the Lion. The Lion who hates how our hearts have been robbed from more than we do. The Lion who is fierce in His fight for you; a powerful force of joy and justice who's been covering you ever since you called Him.

I love Isaiah 61 because it tells us why Jesus came.

He came to “preach good news to the poor, bind up the broken hearted, proclaim freedom for captives and release from darkness for the prisoners. To proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God” (v. 1-2).

My prayer for 2021 is that we more greatly live out the Lion’s declaration of release.

That by the power of the Holy Spirit we speak words and live lives that are a threat to captivity.

"He brought them out of darkness and the deepest gloom

and broke away their chains."

Psalm 107:14
