Things too Wonderful for Me

God works wonders through a stilled and quieted soul. That's when the world can hear His whisper in us. When we've decided His great matters are too wonderful, when we let Him explain Himself or be silent, instead of filling the gaps with our figuring.

King David described his soul as a "weaned child with its mother" (Psalm 131:2)- a weaned child who knows the source of all that's filled him. David is vulnerable in his need but not fearful, he knows he's close to his covering, the One Whose given him everything.

And the One Whose given us everything delivered us from one thing so He could deliver us to something. He delivered us from death and steadied our feet, so we could walk before Him "in the land of the living" (Psalm 116:8-9) - the land of the living where all the working is Jesus' blood, sweat and tears coming through us, not us doing something for Him but Him using our voices to speak for Himself. It's the land of the living where our posture of peace isn't laziness but a lifestyle, and comfort is found in our King's control.

The world is hungry for an over-flowing, for the Holy Spirit to do hard things through a people who are resting.

"I do not concern myself with great matters or things too wonderful for me.

But I have stilled and quieted my soul."

Psalm 131:1-2

--

"Be at rest once more , O my soul, for the Lord has been good to you.

For You, O Lord, have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before the Lord in the land of the living."

Psalm 116:7-9
